2 days

Whether you are heading to Everest Base Camp or Kilimanjaro, our training weekends are designed to get you ready for your adventure of a lifetime!

You will complete 2 days of back-to-back trekking in the Lake District fells. This will help you prepare both physically and mentally and answer any questions you may have about your trip.

Each day is tailored to prepare you for your international trek, taking in good milage, elevation and the chance to summit several Lakeland Peaks.

Your training will be lead by a qualified Mountain Leader with international trekking and expedition experience.  They will deliver an informal syllabus of topics designed to best prepare you for your trip, as well as be on hand to offer personal experience and advice.

Topics covered include:

  • Your equipment list
  • How to pack for your adventure
  • Fitness and training plans
  • Movement on different trekking terrain – steep ground, scree etc.
  • Expedition top tips – safety, dealing with altitude, personal hygiene on expedition, camping.
  • Any other questions about your trip

These weekends are perfect as an introduction to trekking if you are considering a trip, a boost to your fitness ahead of your holiday or a sociable refresher for those who have travelled before.

The exact routes chosen will depend on weather conditions, and the make up of the group. We aim to complete 2 good mountain days with plenty of ascent and milage, whilst allowing time to cover the training topics.

Day 1

We will start the day meeting at 9am and travel to the trek start point. This will usually involve a 30 minute drive to the Western or Central fells, easily accessible from Keswick. We will complete a full days walk of around 6-8 hours before dropping the group back to Keswick.

Day 2

Today we will again start at 9am, this time walking straight from Keswick into the nearby fells. Depending on the group objectives and preferences this may be climbing Skiddaw or into the Borrowdale valley. We will aim to finish today around 3-4pm, to allow for onward travel.

If the dates and prices fail to load above, please go to My Grand Adventure, where you will be able to see all available departures.
